The property is amazing to be honest I have stayed here about 5 times now. Only quip I have is I came for a much needed rest, I have an ulcerated throat and have seriously lost my voice and have not been well lately. Just down the corridor from where I was staying a visitor very late on the Friday was screaming shouting and throwing things around in her room. It was very disconcerting, to hear. She sounded very abusive and I felt concerned for staff. That was the only quipp it kept me awake. It wasn't what I expected to hear at the Rupert hotel. Again it is such a shame as I have stayed here 5 times now. The staff are lovely, the rooms lovely it's clean nothing is any trouble st all for the staff. Goodness know who the guest or longer stay person was but she lowered the tone and feeling of such a friendly establishment

Exceptional staff on reception, they couldn't have been more helpful, and it's 24hrs. Room was comfortable, though the mattress was a little soft for me( something I experience a lot in other hotels ). The double glazing was really helpful for blocking out the sound from the neighbouring pubs. The location is excellent - right in the heart of Shrewsbury with a great range of pubs and restaurants nearby. I strongly recommend the Giggling Squid for Thai food, and the pub next door does a decent Sunday Lunch. Breakfast at the hotel was superb: great selection, well presented and wonderful service. The hotel has bags of character and costs about the same as the nearby Premier Inn - The Prince Rupert is far superior. I like that you can open the windows for fresh air and they don't rely on air conditioning.

The staff were very pleasant and thoughtful. I mentioned I had a bad headache and I was given a jug of water and instructions to make my way through it all in my room to feel better. I felt beautifully looked after. The room was quiet and although I was in the basic one single bed room, I had a beautiful view from the window of the little square with the church to one side and a lovely green space. Usually rooms like that have a view of the bins! The location perfect and was a lovely walk from the train station. All shops and facilities are right on the door step and the hotel is tucked down a little side street.

Location is excellent.it is a very old hotel and retains most of it character. As an out of towner, I went to school in Shrewsbury I had aspired to staying and having dinner here. Ella at early evening check is was absolutely excellent. Calm patient, helpful friendly, multi tasking and achieved an acceptable solution. Breakfast food and staff also excellent.

Julie

The breakfast was excellent and the service was very fast. There was a good choice of breakfast items on the menu Plenty of hot water and the bathroom facilities were great
